MACFEST’s Director won Manchester People’s Culture Award 2023!

We are delighted to announce, that Qaisra Shahraz MBE, our Director, a critically acclaimed novelist, culture champion, and award-

winning peace/gender activist won the Manchester Culture Award 2023 in the Category: “The Manchester People’s Culture Award”.

She was recognised for her initiatives, Muslim Women’s Arts Festival and MACFEST (Muslim Arts and Culture Festival), a ground-breaking festival that connects communities, tackles Islamophobia, and breaks down barriers. She is well known for her lifelong passion in championing and celebrating women, youth, community cohesion, & and building intercultural bridges through literature, arts and cultural heritage. 

In the words of the host, 'This award recognized the work which showed dedication and contribution to creativity in Manchester and achievements taken place over several years.’

British Muslim Awards 2023 for the category ‘Community Group of the Year Award’

We are delighted to announce, that Muslim Women’s Arts Festival is one of the winners of The British Muslim Awards 2023 – one of the most prestigious events in the British Muslim community, recognizing and celebrating outstanding contributions and significant achievements of Muslims in the UK, as well as inspiring future generations of Muslims to excel in various fields.

Through the rigorous nomination process of shortlisting candidates in different fields, MWAF was among the 10 outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations shortlisted in the category Community Organisation of the Year. 

The awarding body, Oceanic Consulting, said: “The nominees have shown exceptional dedication and talent in their respective fields, and we are honoured to recognise their contributions to society.”
